Founded in 2002 by Craig Stevenson Trent Baits offers a range of high quality baits for the discerning angler and those looking for a change from the mass produced mainstream baits. Craig has been fishing for 30 years and first dabbled with making specialist carp baits around 25years ago, however it was not until some years later that the Carp fishing bug really caught Craig and he has been making his own carp baits now for over 15years.

 

In 2007 after having previously used baits from our range Jason Hayward joined Trent Baits in a consultantcy role. Jason who has well over 20 years bait making experience at the highest level and an unrivalled wealth of knowledge in all aspects of carp angling,. bought with him not just a great understanding of the nutritional aspects of baits but also many old school edges on the attractor front which have helped Jason bank a huge number of large British carp over the last 20 years. Jason’s forward thinking, enthusiasm and attention to detail is still second to none, which makes him a great asset to Trent Baits.

My first dealings with Trent Baits were around six years ago now after I had moved home from the Home counties to the East Midlands. When I saw an advert For Trent Baits, I gave them a call to order a few ingredients I needed to make some bait. I got speaking to Craig and from memory the call lasted about an hour! I carried on using Trent Baits ingredients for a couple of years, as I always had ultimate faith in my own bait. About 4 years ago, during another of our long telephone conversations! Craig convinced me to have a look at his own range of rolled bait, and duly sent me some samples. I was very impressed with the baits I received, and set about sniffing, tasting, crumbling and dropping them in the test tank, trying to narrow the range down to the bait I would be most happy using. That year, I took a leap of faith and started using Craig's freshwater Shrimp, which was going through its final development, [with a little twist from me!] and the results were astounding! I wont bore you with ego massaging statistics, but I will tell you that in the first 3 months of that season, I caught more than the rest of the 30 man syndicate put together, and I haven't looked back since. Early last year, Craig asked me to join the Company as a consultant, and as I have always had an interest in bait formulation, like a fat kid in a sweet shop, I agreed. I am now helping Craig produce a range of baits to suit all anglers and waters, some of which are very, very special.

At Trent Baits we individually source all own ingredients ensuring we use not only the highest quality but also the freshest available. The ingredients are then blended and rolled by using fresh eggs. By sourcing our own ingredients and carrying out every step of production ourselves we are able to maintain an unrivalled quality of bait which once dried is sent out to you on a next day service ensuring you receive the freshest bait available.

The Future
Although we are continually sourcing and testing new ingredients with a view to producing new baits, we will not release new baits just for the sake of it or to capitalise on the ‘latest bait fads’. Only if we feel we can supply a product which is an advancement on what we already offer will it be released on sale.
